THE PROGRESSION

Part 1 of the journey leads into part 2 through the base of the free standing lamp. I intend to use the same yarns and design for the base of the lamp as I have used for the arm chair to show the ghosts journey out of the forest.

I would like to use this progression from product to product for part 3 into part 4. The huge lantern will be a combination of patterned pieces, and textured, sculptural pieces. When thinking of the design for the bean bag style seat I want to use lots of small circular lanterns which will be attached together to make a large seat. Using the same combination of pattern and texture for the bean bag seat would be the progression from the huge lantern and celebration of the carnival to the end of the festival. The smaller 4 hanging lanterns will be more sculptural and shaped to represent a lotus flower, which holds strong meaning in Buddhist culture.
