My development for this section has been really successful and I have made some further decisions on the design for the final outcome.

- The lampshade cover will be made using the 'back' of the knitted textiles, showing a more textural pattern rather than a graphic, jacquard style.

Examples of the textural patterns I'd like to develop:

- The colour palette will be the greens and black and red from the cact-eye chair cover:

...progressing to a palette of warm colours for the lampshade cover; baby pink, red, coral, neon coral, orange, sunflower yellow, gold:

- One of the main elements is a progression of colour from dark at the bottom to light at the top.

The progression from part 1 to 2 in my desk space conveys the colour journey:

- The claws, the sculptural knitted element, will be combined with the cact-eye base and appear to be clawing their way out onto the stand.

- The lighting will be warm

- The ghost journey here is from the forest to the carnival, my translation is that they are clawing their way (3D shapes) out the forest (The cact-eye base, onto the stand), making their way to the carnival (the light and lampshade at the top is a sign that they have almost made it).

- The mood begins to change from dark and uncomfortable to warm, inviting and hopeful, the promise of excitement just around the corner.

Decorative Details:

Bells:

I ordered some traditional, small cow and mini bells from France, all different shapes and all making different sounds. I considered using more modern decorative bells; gold and very shiny but when I came across these bells online I was really drawn to them for their traditional aesthetic. They seem rustic and aged. I felt like they sat well with the old folklore tale, and the original drawings I had used for inspiration in this part of the journey.

Tassels:

I have just received the new viscose metallic tassels and the colours are so vibrant, I'm really pleased. Im going to experiment with using a black fabric spray to give the tassels a dip dyed effect. Another way to translate the colour progression.

Development going forward:

- Continue to develop the selected samples using punchcards, experiment combining cards to create textural patterns

- Spray the embroidery threads and make the tassels, adding bells

- Develop the 'eye' pattern for the stand using punchcards to experiment on the domestic machine as well as power knit jacquard

- Continue to develop the cact-eye, claw base
