Having prepared The CactEye Collection for the ND submission, I was ready to move onto The Carnival Lantern, Part 3 of the Story, and the biggest outcome of this project.

With the framework nearly completed and a temporary version hanging up in the metal works department, it was time to start preparing the knitted fabric. The inner layer of fabric had been knitted on the power knit machines, the sheima, leaving me with 24 pieces to cut and sew. Now the hoops for the frame had been welded I had the exact and final measurments to work with so I could begin the process of shaping them. I made a pattern piece for each layer and marked the fabric ready to overlock and shape.
The 12 monsters for the outer layer have been knitted and I have begun beading the middle row of eyes.
The 12 domestic pieces are now underway with one completed and a plan of completion in order for the rest.
I have given three weeks to complete the Lantern, this will take us up to the week of New Designers, leaving 2.5weeks for portfolio work and any sketchbook, blog, files etc that need to be finished.
