The final pieces for the base cover of the chair have been successful and have fitted to the pattern pieces made from the chairs measurements.

I made the chair into 11 pattern pieces, all roughly large rectangular pieces, which can be cut and sewn to fit, or linked together.

The design of the knitted fabric involved e-wrapping chunky natural wool, in a variety of greens, around a base of aran wool and angora. Using UV yarn, green lurex and green, glitter, feather yarn to add subtle decorative details to the cover.

As shown above the fabric is knitted as a flat fabric, when pinned to the chair the e-wrapped sections are sculpted to be like large cacti, they will be stuffed to hold the structure.

This will cover the back of the chair, the sides of the chair and two large cacti will run a long the inside of the chair at either side.

In between the two cacti inside will be small, pointed, 3D, partial knitted cacti that are stuffed with pompoms. They will also grow over the arms of the chair and will be knitted using uv and decorative yarns, as well as some beading around the arms. They will have different striped patterns and will use a variety of woollen blends.

STILL CONSIDERING:

- Stuffing : recycle and cut up the stuffing from the chair originally, use scraps of yarn

- How to join the fabrics together, and the large cacti pieces

- The original fabric of the chair can be seen slightly through the chunky knitted base cover, i am considering spraying the chair with black fabric paint, to add more of a darkness to the outcome. I had considered using UV paint for the frame of the lantern now that it might be visible, by using it on some areas of the chair underneath the cover it might also emphasises and work alongside the UV yarn.

- Drawings and consideration of where the 3D cacti points will go

- Consider where the best place to add the beaded cacti will be : in relation to the human body and how and where someones arms and hands will be positioned when sitting in the chair.

- Monster eyes and knitted hungry ghost eyes : this had been something I was wanting to have featured in both outcomes, 3D hungry Ghost logo eyes, still something that needs developing and sampled.
