CactEye Chair - What I would still like to do/do differently...

The Journey of The Hungry Ghost as an over all project has provided so many ideas and avenues to explore. I have made some plans to continue working on certain aspects of the project after the MA is completed.

The chair has a lot of potential and there are definitely things I would still like to make to work alongside the chair.

Whilst filming the chair with Jonathon Hamilton, we discussed green screening the chair, making it fly and making a forest of them. As well knitting a CactEye body suit for a puppeteer to wear whilst interacting with the cacti chair, making it move etc. I have envisioned the body suit to have a cacti forest face and hands. We have arranged to continue working together on these elements after July.

The lamp, footstool and throw compliment the chair well and are an way to demonstrate more marketable/accessible product. I would love to have the time to develop a range of cacti monster cushions and pillows with the different cacti becoming little character monsters, rug, blanket etc.

I would also like to complete a series of illustrated drawings of the cacti monsters, using fine liners and watercolour.

Do Differently?

Due to Jonathon's schedule we needed to film the chair in the middle of May, which didn't leave as long for the construction as I would have hoped. I would have liked more time for...

- Experimenting with different stuffing, using heavy, more solid stuffing as well as different materials to aid in the uncomfortable/awkward sensation

- Beading with more of a variety and more on the cacti themselves to create more contrasting surfaces textures

- Sew pompoms in tightly to avoid any movement while people are sitting in the chair
